2009 Christopher Michael
Pinot Noir
Winemaker’s Notes
The 2009 vintage was characterized by extremes from record lows to record highs. The spring was warm which helped encourage the vines to grow and produce a bountiful crop. Warm weathered continued through the summer months with little rain. As is often the case, the fall can make or break a vintage. In 2009, the sun was shining and we had record hang time which allowed us to bring in a ripe but balanced pinot noir crop.
The 2009 Christopher Michael Oregon Pinot Noir was fermented in three different lots. The wines were cold soaked for 4 days, pressed at dryness and aged in a combination of stainless steel and neutral oak barrels for 10 months. The wine was bottled in October 2010 unfined and unfiltered. 880 cases produced.
Tasting Notes
Spicy aromas of cherry and raspberry combine with white pepper, and hints of forest floor. In the mouth this wine is silky and smooth with refreshing berry fruits, tobacco, and hints of barrel spice.
